The Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 is an Android tablet with a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1 GHz MTK 6575 ARM Cortex-A9 single core processor, 1GB of RAM, and up to 16GB of storage.
Lenovo launched the tablet in China earlier this summer, and now it looks like the A2107 could be coming to America.
The tablet showed up today at the FCC website, complete with photos, a user manual, and wireless test reports.
Lenovo’s new tablet features 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 2MP rear camera, and a 0.3MP front-facing camera. It measures 7.6″ x 4.8″ x 0.45″ and weighs about 14 ounces. It features a 13.7 Whr battery.
In China, Lenovo offers the tablet with dual SIM cards for use on multiple mobile broadband networks. It’s not clear if that option will be available in the US or if Lenovo will just offer a WiFi-only model. The only version found on the FCC website right now is a WiFi-only model.
Based on the specs, I’d hazard a guess that the Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 is aimed at budget Android tablet shoppers, much like Lenovo’s first 7 inch Android tablet, the IdeaPad A1.
But the market for inexpensive Android tablets is pretty tough these days, with Google offering the Nexus 7 for $199, Samsung offering the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) for $249, and Amazon and B&N both offering Android-powered 7 inch eReaders for $199 or less.
Might be a good deal if they are selling it for under $100. Other than that, I don’t see why anyone would want to pick one of these up. I’m not sure I’d even want to get one at $75! Seems underpowered.
