At first glance the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S looks like a Windows 8 notebook with an 11.6 inch display. And it kind of is. You can open the lid and use it like a laptop. But if you keep opening the lid and push it back 180 degrees so it’s resting behind the keyboard you can also hold the Yoga 11S and use it like a tablet. Because it’s that too.

Lenovo introduced the IdeaPad Yoga 11S at CES in January, and this week it showed up at the FCC website. It’s expected to go on sale in June for $799 and up.

This is actually the third member of the IdeaPad Yoga family. The first was the Yoga 13, which has a 13.3 inch display and a price tag of around $1000.

The second model is the IdeaPad Yoga 11, which is the same size and shape as the 11S, but which has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 ARM Cortex-A9 processor and Windows RT software (and a much more affordable $500 price tag).

Lenovo’s Yoga 11S splits the difference, offering an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, Windows 8 Pro software, and an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display.

The computer will be available with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage thanks to a solid state disk. It measures 11.7″ x 8″ x 0.7″ and weighs about 3.1 pounds and Lenovo says the Yoga 11S should get up to 6 hours of battery life.

It’s a little thicker and heavier than a tablet that doesn’t have a keyboard permanently attached. But the advantage of a Yoga is that you don’t have to pack a separate keyboard to use this tablet like a laptop.
