The folks at Notebooks.com got some alone time with the 9 inch version of the new Lenovo netbook. While Xavier accidentally refers to the computer as the IdeaPad S10, I believe this version will actually be known as the IdeaPad S9. That’s assuming that the S10 and S9 monikers have anything at all to do with screen size, which they may not.

The S9 does look substantially less bulky than the S10. But that trackpad also looks dangerously small. The 9 inch version of the laptop will be available in Asia, but not in the US. And while the 10 inch model that will be available in the US will only ship with Windows, Asian customers will be able to pick up an S9 running Linux (probably Linpus Linux Lite) for a lower price. Jealous yet?

  1. The bezel surrounding the S9’s 8.9″ display actually doesn’t look all that bad compared to say the Eee PC 701 or 904 (can’t comment on the MSI Wind with 8.9″ display since I haven’t seen any photos). However, other than cost savings, since the chassis for both are identically sized, you might as well make full use of the space and go with a 10″ display. For those of us in the U.S., this is a moot point since we’re not getting a 8.9″ display, Linux or SSD.

  2. and me calling it an S10 is what I get for only spending 2 minutes with it…and yes my hands are friggin huge that make mobile devices look much smaller than they actually are 😉

    1. Hey, would you look at that. It has a bezel!

This is what I get for blogging when I first wake up in the morning. I guess
this guy just has larger hands than the last few hand models we’ve seen with
      the S10.
