Can’t wait for hackers to get their hands on the upcoming Lenovo S10 (and S9) and start posting pictures of the tiny computer’s innards? No problem. Lenovo and the FCC have you covered. Engadget uncovered a ton of S9/S10 related documents on the FCC website, including more than 50 pictures of the computer and it’s internal components. You can check out a slideshow after the jump.

The FCC also has the complete user manual in PDF format. There aren’t a ton of surprises. But there are a few items worth nothing. For example, unlike some netbooks, the S10 and S9 have an access panel on the back. Better yet, Lenovo describes it as a hard drive/RAM access panel, which means it should be relatively easy to upgrade either piece of hardware.

Of course, the manual suggests that you shouldn’t perform a hard drive upgrade yourself, but should instead find a Lenovo authorized service center. But if you know what you’re doing and/or like throwing caution to the wind, it looks like you should be able to upgrade the hard drive yourself without having to rip the entire computer apart.

The computer includes a hidden partition with the files you need to restore your computer to its original factory default state. No rescue CDs are included, which means if you wipe away that partition, you could be out of luck. Hopefully Lenovo will let you request rescue CDs via mail if you do accidentally wipe this partition.

More pictures after the jump.

  1. I can’t seem to find the mute button for the Lenovo s10. Can anyone please tell me where to find it.

  2. I was waiting for the S10 for a long time but since they placed the right shift key to the right of the up-arrow key, I won’t be buying it. It makes it virtually impossible to use for people who can touch type. I own an Eee PC 900 with the same keyboard layout only smaller. I was surprised that the size of the keyboard didn’t bother me as much as the placement of the right shift key. I guess I will have to wait until the 6-cell Wind drops to a reasonable price to make my purchase.

  3. I was waiting for a 6 cell Wind at a reasonable price, but since the touchpad fiasco, I’m no longer very keen. The S10 is starting to look like the one to beat. As long as they offer an option with a good battery (5+ hrs of typical usage) at a price that isn’t silly, I’m sold.
