Lenovo IdeaPad K1

While a handful of folks have already reported that they’ve gotten their hands on the Lenovo IdeaPad K1 at bricks and mortar stores in the US, the tablet officially went on sale this week. You can now order the tablet from Lenovo’s website for $499.99 with an etimated ship date of August 1st.

Provantage and ExcaliberPC are also taking pre-orders at the same price.

So what do you get for a penny shy of $500? The tablet has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a ! GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and Android 3.1 operating system… just like virtually every other Android tablet on the market. It also has 1GB of memory, 32GB of storage space, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1.

The key difference between the IdeaPad K1 and other Android tablets is that Lenovo’s device will come with some custom software. The tablet will have a custom launched widget in the center of the screen, a file browser, and desktop software allowing you to synchronize your tablet to a PC using a USB or WiFi connection.
