Techno Source is starting to show off a new line of kid-friendly Android tablets scheduled to hit the streets in September. The Kurio (PDF link) line of tablets will be available in 7, 8 and 10 inch sizes and will have prices ranging form $199 to $329.
PC Magazine reports that under the hood the Kurio 7 tablet has a 1 GHz single core ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage and runs Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
But Techno Source has customized the heck out of the operating system to make it more kid-friendly, with large, colorful icons and graphics.
Parents can filter their childrens’ web browsing by blocking certain sites or creating a white list. You can also disable internet access entirely.
Users can create up to 8 different profiles on the tablet, saving themes and settings. That way multiple kids (or adults) can share the same tablet.
The tablet also has a sturdy plastic case that avoids the minimalism associated with, say, the iPad in exchange for durability.
