I’m not 100% sold on Mobile Internet Devices with 5 inch displays and keyboards that are too cramped to comfortably touch-type on. But they seem to be coming at us fast these days. The latest addition is Kohjinsha’s new PA Series MID, which features a 4.8 inch touchscreen that can be folded down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode.
The PA Series also features a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 32GB SSD. It has WiFi and Bluetooth and a 1seg TV tuner for picking up digital TV signals in Japan. The MID also has a 1.3MP webcam, a Miro SD card slot, and a battery that Kohjinsha says is good for up to 7.5 hours, but I’d take that with a grain of salt.
The device runs Windows XP, weighs 0.88 pounds, and measures 6.3″ x 4.4″ x 1″. I’m still skeptical. But I kind of want one anyway.

Big honkin’ speakers on it too! If the touch screen worked as well as ain iPhone then yeah I’d be interested too. That’s the key they need to get these touch screen up to that level of multi-touch and intergration of OS & software.
