bandai-netbookIf you just look at the specs, the new Kohjinsha Gachupin & Mukku netbook looks like a decent little machine with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and a 1Seg digital TV tuner for picking up Japanese TV broadcasts.

But what sets this netbook apart from the crowd is it’s theme: Gachupin and Mukku are characters in a Japanese TV show created by Bandai. And this netbook is covered with Gachupin and Mukku imagery. And green. Lots and lots of green.

The computer sells for 79,900 yen, which is about $867 dollars, which seems a bit steep for a children’s laptop. Netbooks sold in Japan do tend to carry pretty high price tags, but this is definitely one of the more expensive prices I’ve seen.

  1. And in time for St. Patrick’s day too! I knew someone would do that.
