Chinese device maker JinXing Digital has introduced an updated version of its Android-powered gaming handheld. A few months ago the company launched the JXD S7100 tablet with a 7 inch display, Android 2.2 operating system, and game controllers built into the sides of the case.
Now the company is following up with the JXD S5110 featuring a 5 inch display and a case design that looks awfully familiar.
The JXD S5110 has a 5 inch, 800 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, a 1 GHz Amlogic M3 ARM Cortex-A9 processor, and ARM Mali 400 3D graphics. The device has 512MB of memory and supports 4GB or 8GB of storage. There’s also a microSDHC card slot for extra storage.
It features 3-point multitouch input, has a gravity sensor, and supports 802.22b/g/n WiFi. There’s a VGA camera on the back, and the tablet can stream 1080p HD video to an external display via HDMI.
The tablet measures 7.7″ x 3.4″ x 0.7″ and weighs a little over half a pound.
In addition to the game controllers around the sides of the screen, the JXD S5110 also features emulators for running Nintendo 64, GameBoy Advance, Sega MegaDrive, and other games as well as Android titles. Whether the Game Center that lets you download titles for those consoles is entirely legal is another question.
