One of Apple’s key selling points for the iPad (and iPhone, and iPod Touch) is an app store with over 140,000 applications designed to run on the devices. Of course, there are also thousands of applications designed to run on Windows, Linux, Windows Mobile, Google Android, and other platforms. But the app store paradigm has really caught on for mobile devices, because it turns out it’s much easier to find and download all of the programs you want to run from one place rather than scouring the web. Who knew? (Other than Linux distributions that have been using a repository and package management system that’s arguably a lot like an app store for years, I mean).
Now it looks like the folks at Fusion Garage are planning to launch their own app store for the JooJoo tablet which is due to start shipping before the end of the month. But the JooJoo app store takes a different approach. Instead of running native applications, the device is basically a 12 inch web browser that supports Flash. So what you’ll get is a web app store that basically makes it easy to find web apps for all your needs. In other words, if you’re looking for games, you’ll be able to browse the games category to find online games. Looking for office apps? Check out the office, or productivity, or whatever Fusion Garage is going to call it section.

I can see the value of a tablet with an app store. I do not think it will replace netbooks but supplement them as entertainment centers or light work centers. If they keep the price low and make the money off the apps, it could be appealling; IMO.
