If you were still holding onto hope that you mights be able to pick up a 9 inch Dell Inspiron Mini laptop, it looks like you’re out of luck. As I mentioned the other day, Dell has removed the Inspiron Mini 9 from its web site. And today Dell is sending out a note to web publishers that had been posting affiliate links to the netbook letting us know that the netbook has reached its end of life a bit ahead of schedule “due to supply issues.”
In other words, Dell ain’t going to be building any more of these little guys. So if you’re not satisfied with the company’s 10 inch and larger mini-notebooks, you might want to look into grabbing a used Mini 9 from eBay. Asus, Acer, and a few other companies are still selling 9 inch netbooks, but it looks like most of the Intel Atom powered netbooks available today have 10 inch or larger screens.
Update: Dell has posted an official statement about the Mini 9’s retirement on the company blog.
