The Iridium Star notebook from china is hardly the first thin and light notebook with a MacBook Air-inspired case and netbook-like guts I’ve seen. But at just about $230, it’s definitely one of the cheapest. And with an Apple logo emblazoned on the back, it’s also one of the ballsiest.
The notebook has an 11.6 inch, 13766 x 768 pixel display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, and 802.11b/ WiFi. It runs Windows XP and comes with a fairly weak 2600mAh battery. I’d be surprised if you can get more than 3 hours of run time, but that’s to be expected from a product this cheap.
Other features include an Ethernet jack, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 4-in-1 card reader, a 1.3MP webcam, and integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics. The laptop is available in black or white… if you happen to be in China. I don’t expect to see this model sold internationally any time soon.

Oh, another blatant theft of intellectual property from a Chinese company meant to dupe mostly Asian buyers into thinking they are getting a real Apple product. Imagine that. Maybe Apple will wise-up and at least have their products built in India, or God forbid, the U.S..
Wow a 13766 x 768 pixel screen for only 230$?! But seriously its a good price even for the usual netbook guts. Also a picture of the front would be good (a typical chinese pink hello kitty design with green buttons would be a dealbreaker 🙂
