We’ve seen a lot of low-cost development boards/single-board computers hit the streets since the first Raspberry Pi first launched in 2012, including models with Intel, ARM, and MIPS processors… and Imagination Technologies would really like you to use those MIPS-based models.

The company launched the MIPS Creator Ci20 board in 2014, and a new Ci40 model is on the way, so to promote the platform the company is working with Hackster.io to sponsor a contest: Use the Ci20 board to build a Terminator robot and you can win up to $400 worth of items, including one of the next-gen dev boards.

Wait, a Terminator? Yeah… well, kind of.

The Terminator-themed contest doesn’t actually require you to create a robot that can hunt down and kill humans. But the idea is to design something that looks like one of the robots from the Terminator movie franchise.

You don’t actually need to have a Ci20 board to get started. Submit an idea by March 4th, and Imagination will select the 50 best ideas and send participants a dev board that they can use to build their project, write up the designs, and try to win one of the top prizes which are bundles including the upcoming Ci40 board.

Just try not to give your design nuclear launch codes or anything, OK?
