Smartphone cameras keep getting better… well, some smartphone cameras anyway. While you can still probably get better shots with a pro-level DSLR camera, the best camera is the one you always have with you, since it’s the one you’re most likely to snap unplanned shots with.
So while Sony, Samsung, LG, and others have all been playing up improvements in their smartphone cameras during Mobile World Congress this week, Chinese phone maker Huawei is looking to the future… by announcing a partnership with Leica.
The companies aren’t actually introducing any new products right now. But Leica has been a big name in the photography arena for a while, and the partnership means we could see some of the company’s lenses or other camera technology incorporated into future smartphones from Huawei.
According to the press release, the partnership “will span research and development, design, co-engineering, user experience, marketing and retail distribution,” with more details to “be shared as the partnership continues.”
