HP’s latest mobile workstations have the power you’d expect from a desktop replacement, with the new HP ZBook Fury G9 sporting a 55-watt Intel Alder Lake-HX processor, support for NVIDIA or AMD discrete graphics, and up to 128GB of DDR5 memory. Measuring 1.1 inches thick and weighing 5.4 pounds or more, it’s not the most portable notebook around, but with a 95 Wh battery the 16 inch notebook is a lot easier to take on the go than a true desktop.

If you’re willing to sacrifice a little horsepower for improved portability, the new ZBook Studio G9 also has a 16 inch display, but this model starts at 3.8 pounds and features a 45-watt Intel Alder Lake-H processor and support for up to 64GB of RAM and NVIDIA RTX A5500 or GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics.

    1. You know, as much as annoys me how you just HAD to bring that up like that, that is kind of a stupid logo regardless of current events. I mean, okay, fine, someone looking up “Z laptop” is still going to find HP’s website thanks to HP shoveling gobs of money at search engines. But it still, at a glance, reminds me of a cheap brand using the Xtreme Kool LetterZ instead of Hewlett-Packard which, given how old it is, just seems like it might carry a bit more prestige.

I have a better idea, stick the italicized letters hp in front of, superimposed over, the giant Z. The Z and the hp should be contrasting colors/shades.

      1. @Some Guy said: “You know, as much as annoys me how you just HAD to bring that up like that…”

What annoys you? Of course I had to bring up the big black italic “Z” on the laptop lid. It’s offensive to me after watching the atrocities being committed by Russia in Ukraine under that moniker! What if HP put a big Swastika on the laptop, would that be OK with you too?

        1. Yeah, I would, if it was a letter used as parts of words and had a dedicated button to type it on your keyboard. HP has been using Z to refer to their workstation products for years. Nissan isn’t changing the name of the Z, the sports car, over it. They shouldn’t change it just because a bunch of hypersensitive people get reminded of bad news that they can’t realistically do anything about, especially not when no one really has any moral high ground to stand on. You’re not a better person for getting offended, you know. Isn’t it exhausting caring so much about whatever crisis the TV is talking about? Isn’t it stressful? But you have to, because you’re afraid of losing whatever friends you have. You HAVE to show them you are doing ALL YOU CAN to condemn whatever everyone who’s still allowed to talk are complaining about. I bet you’re thinking of something awful to call me right now, “Russia-apologist”, “atrocity denier”, “FSB agent”, “messed up deranged loser with no friends”. How dare you try and downplay the destruction and bloodshed, you ignorant piece of trash! They should go back and delete everything you ever wrote because it was tainted by a selfish, unempathetic mind! Of course it’s offensive, after you watch it. But that’s because you watched it, and you didn’t watch what other countries have done, and the pain they inflicted, no, as far at the TV was concerned they were heroes! Removing dictators! Fostering democracy! Totally didn’t destroy all the infrastructure, kill millions of people, destabilize regions, leaving terrorists in control, they couldn’t have been bad, because someone living in those countries would bear part of that guilt and be well deserving of serious punishment for it! THEY VOTED FOR IT!
I’m just tired. Tired of caring about things I can’t change. Changing a logo won’t bring those people back to life. Keeping the logo the same won’t kill more people. The logo won’t cause people in power to listen to their constituents instead of their sponsors any more or less. Under these circumstances, changing the logo is just a sign of submission, going along with whatever a bunch of racist hypocrites on TV want. And that is what is so annoying about it.

  1. I wonder how much battery life you’d get from that 95Wh battery. Workstation laptops are so inconsistent regarding how much battery life you should expect from a given capacity. Depending on the brand, this could range from 6 hours to 10 hours.

My current expectations have been set by the MSI WS66, which got 10 hours of battery life from a 99Wh battery, using a 10th-gen i9 HK-series.
