The HP Pavilion x360 isn’t the only 2-in-1 tablet form HP that’s getting a Skylake update. The folks at Notebook Italia also spotted evidence that HP plans to add a new model to the Spectre X2 line of Windows tablets with detachable keyboards.

The new HP Spectre X2 is expected to feature a 12.4 inch display and an Intel Core M Skylake processor.

An unannounced HP Spectre x2 12 tablet with a detachable keyboard showed up at the FCC recently, and Notebook Italia also found a few retail listings for the tablet suggesting it’ll come in at least three configurations:

  • Core M-6Y30 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB solid state drive
  • Core M-6Y54 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
  • Core M-6Y75 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

Each model is expected to have 802.11ac WiFi and the combined weight of the tablet and keyboard is expected to be about 2.6 pounds, making it noticeably lighter than the original Spectre x2, which has a 13.3 inch display and which weighs about 4.4 pounds.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the new models are also fanless, thanks to their low-power Intel Core M processors.

We’ll probably have to wait a little longer for photos and additional details. The HP Spectre X2 12 will probably be officially launched at the IFA trade show in Berlin in Early September.

One reply on “HP Spectre X2 12.5″ convertible with Core M Skylake on the way”

  1. Any idea on the screen resolution? I’ve always been disappointed in panels HP has used in past models. I’m hoping their new models will impress.
