HP is starting to send software updates to HP Touchpad users today. If you’re using a TouchPad you should soon receive webOS 3.0.2 for the tablet.
The company hasn’t offered many details about the new software, but HP officials said that it’s been n the works for three or four months and it’s designed to address some of the issues users and reviewers have had with the tablet.
One complaint that’s popped up over and over is that the tablet feels slow, which is surprising since it has one of the fastest ARM-based processors currently on the market. It’s possible that webOS 3.0.2 could be designed to improve speed and general responsiveness. PreCentral also suggests that we’ll see new calculator and clock apps and improvements to the email app.
The TouchPad is the first tablet designed to run webOS, an operating system initially designed for Palm smartphones. The tablet has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor, a 9.7 inc, 1024 x 768 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It has a 24 Whr battery and weighs about 1.5 pounds.
