HP is now taking orders for its new Mini 110 netbook and updated Pavilion dv2 laptop. The company also appears to have pulled the HP Mini 1000 from its web store, with the exception of the $699.99 HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition.

The Mini 110 comes with either Linux or Windows XP, and has a starting price of $279.99 or $329.99 respectively. The netbooks have 10.1 inch, 1024 x 576 pixel displays, and a whole slew of options including a choice of an Intel Atom N270 or N280 CPU, solid state storage, or a hard drive. The Linux model can be configured with up to 2Gb of RAM and a 250GB hard drive, while the XP edition tops out at 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive or 32G SSD.

As expected, HP has also dropped the starting price of the Pavilion dv2 12 inch laptop to $599.99. The notebook still ships with an AMD Athlon Neo processor, but you now have a choice of a single core or dual core processor. You can also get it with an AMD Turion Neo X2 Dual core processor. The Pavilion dv2 ships with Windows Vista, and isn’t bound by Microsoft’s restrictions for low cost Windows XP licenses. that means you can configure it with up to 4GB of RAM, or up to 500GB of hard drive space. There are also several graphics card options.

  1. Unfortunately you cannot get the external dvd/cd driver or the blu ray drive with the white version of the dv2. I wonder if this is a system glitch or if they just are not offering it at this time. White seems more reasonable to me even for the extra $25 because fingerprints and scratches are much harder to see.
