HP is updating is line of 10 inch Windows tablets for enterprise customers with two new models sporting 1920 x 1200 pixel displays and Intel Atom Bay Trail quad-core processors.
The HP ProPad 600 is designed to be a cheaper model with a WiFi-only radio and a plastic case, while the HP ElitePad 1000 supports cellular networks and has an aluminum case.
Both tablets are basically updates to the aging HP ElitePad 900, which will be phased out to make room for the new models.
The new business-friendly tablets have microSD card slots, micro HDMI output, 8MP rear and 2MP ront cameras, and support for pressure-sensitive digital pen input. Part of what makes them different from your average Windows tablet is support for HP’s Smart Jackets which let you add functions such as extra batteries, storage, or ports.
The HP ElitePad 1000 should be available in March for around $739. HP plans to launch the ProPad 600 in April for a yet-to-be-announced lower price.
