In addition to the new HP Mini 5102 and 210/2102, HP is unveiling a new Compaq Mini 102 netbook today. It will be available from both HP’s consumer and business lines, and it’s pretty much the least impressive thing HP is announcing today.
That’s because the Compaq Mini 102 is little more than an HP Mini 110 with a new name. This 10 inch netbook has last-generation features including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, Windows XP Home Edition, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive.
It also has the same keyboard and touchpad as the HP Mini 110. The keyboard is great, and stretches almost from edge to edge of the computer chassis. The touchpad, on the other hand, has two awkward buttons located on the left and right sides.
On the bright side, it’s the cheapest netbook that will be offered through HP’s business division, with a starting price of just $299.

The laptop starts at just 2.35 pounds and comes with either a  3 cell, 28Whr battery or a 6-cell, 62Whr battery.

The new N450 or N470 Processors are not anymore capable than the N270 and N280. So all though its newer chipset its not really built for anything but prolonging battery life. So if I could purchase a machine 100 bucks cheaper and by a 6 cell battery for 40 bucks I still save money versus being fooled as if I really getting a more superior product because the chipset is newer. Just a thought.

you are so right in saying, its more or less the same thing. In UK, the N280’s are going so cheap.
Netbooks have not really progressed. But Smartbooks have, in terms of weight.
Also – need to highlight the resolution of the screens in the articles.
HD screen with direct sunlight use, is what folks might be looking for these days (and long battery life).
