When the HP 2133 Mini-Note first showed up on the company’s web site, it had an estimated ship date of 4/15/2008. Yesterday when I added it to my basket, I got an estimated ship date of 4/18. And this morning when I tried again, the site told me it would ship on or around 4/19. I wonder if tomorrow it will show the 20th?

Update: I placed on order on 4/12 and was told it would ship on 4/19. Today’s the 14th, and when I checked my order progress, I could see that HP says 4/19 is my estimated delivery date. So there’s no real mystery here. HP just appears to be glossing over the difference between shipping and delivery.

  1. Holy cow! You took the plunge!!

Please do a COMPREHENSIVE review. That’s the only model that makes sense to buy.

Am I the only person to notice the SSD one uses PATA while the HD ones have SATA? That means SSD units have to stay SSD.

I’m especially interested in the battery life of this thing and the feedback on the keyboard. I’ve tried the hp 2710 (I think it is; 12″ TabPC) kb and its feedback to too hard for me and would bring back my RSI of years past.

Do you intend to stay with Linux or will you install XP?

    1. I plan to write up a review of the unit as is as soon as possible (hopefully Saturday), and I’ll probably start tweaking shortly thereafter. With the roomy 120GB hard drive, I’m thinking it should be pretty easy to make this a dual/triple boot system. At the very least I suspect I’ll install Windows XP, but I might try Ubuntu as well.

I’m very interested in the keyboard as well. While I don’t dislike the Eee PC keyboard as much as some people, I’d love to have an ultraportable that could serve as a true desktop replacement on the go. Right now the Eee PC with its tiny scree and tiny keyboard doesn’t really fit the bill. Sure, it can technically do anything a larger computer can, but you have to spend too much time scrunching up your hands and scrolling across windows that don’t fit the display.

      1. Do you have the ability put a video up too? I’d be very interested in seeing what hp’s Linux looks like. I’d also like to know if it includes Firefox — or whatever browser it might offer.

I won’t start whining about the lack of review til Monday. I expect either the shipment to be delayed or you to be very busy playing with it to settle down to a review1 Ha!

        1. I’ll definitely be posting some video. Don’t expect high quality video since I’ll be either shooting with my Eee PC webcam or my extraordinarily old digital camera which can only shoot 90 seconds of low quality video at a time. but there will be video. 🙂

  2. Hmm, I wonder if they are actually getting pushed back or if the shipping date is changing as more and more people order? I checked my order today and its still showing as “To Be Delivered 4/16”

  3. At least you CAN order it. I wanted to order the new Nike+ arm band and it looks like they’ve shut down pre-orders until 4/25.
