ecafe ec-1000wComputer peripheral maker Hercules has been pumping out unspectacular netbooks for a little while, but as far as I know they’ve never been available in the US. Laptop magazine took a first look at the company’s new model this weekend, and KT Bradford tells me that they Hercules eCAFE EC-1000W is slated to be released in the US at some point. It will sell for about $399.

The notebook features a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU. It runs Windows 7 Starter Edition, and has 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. In other words, there’s very little on the spec sheet to set this notebook apart from the crowd.

Design-wise, it’s a fairly attractive mini-laptop with a chiclet-style keyboard, a decent sized touchpad, and a nice color scheme.
