Hasee is following up last year’s MJ125 10 inch netbook with a new 12.1 inch model called the Hasee Ultrabook. The laptop is already available at Amazon France for 380 Euros, and it will be available in the UK starting next week.
The Haseee Ultrabook has 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a webcam, and WiFi. And that’s about all I know about it at the moment. Based on the price and specs, I’m assuming it ships with an Intel Atom processor and Windows XP. But with the big Windows 7 launch coming soon, I suppose it’s always possible that we might see an upgraded model soon.
Hasee is positioning the Ultrabook as a Macbook Air competitor. But really, at 380 Euros, I’d be shocked if it offered the kind of performance you can expect from a Macbook Air. It’s just similarly sized.
On the bottom of the unit there appears to be a nice big access panel, which probably means that RAM and hard drive upgrade should be relatively painless. I can’t tell for certain from the photos, but it also looks like some or all of the ports around the sides of the laptop are hidden away behind drop-down or pull-out cover panels.
