Samsung Series 5 ultrabook

Samsung’s Series 5 ultrabooks come in two sizes. You can get one with a 13.3 inch display for $899 and up, or snag a 14 inch model with a DVD drive for $949.

That DVD drive is one of the few things that sets the Series 5 ultrabook apart from the sea of ultrabooks on display CES this year. A few other nifty features include the USB 3.0 ports, built-in Ethernet, HDMI, and VGA ports and matte displays.

While most manufacturers have been cranking out PCs with glossy displays over the past few years, Samsung is one of the only companies that regularly (but not always) produces portable computers with matte screens that don’t look nearly as awful in direct sunlight as glare-prone glossy screens.

Samsung’s 13 inch ultrabook is available with either a 128GB solid state disk or a 500GB hard drive with 16GB of SSD cache, while the 14 inch model is only available with the hard drive option

Both models should be available later this month.
