Avoiding the cardinal rule of not naming your new computer product after the world’s most famous homicidal computer, the folks at Haleron are calling their latest 7 inch tablet the iLet Mini HAL.
The HAL comes hot on the heels of the original iLet Mini. The new version ups the game with a faster 600MHz VIA processor and it drops Windows CE for Google Android.
Like the original iLet Mini, the new HAL model has a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, 128MB of RAM, 2GB of on-board flash storage, 802.11b/g WiFi, 2 USB ports, mic and headphone jacks and an SDHC card slot. Haleron says you can get up to 16 hours of run time on a charge.
The Haleron iLet Mini HAL is available for order for $199.
The photo above looks suspiciously like a render, though. And I’ve yet to hear from anyone who has ever purchased a Haleron product. The company hasn’t responded to my request for review units. So order with caution.
Probably as crappy as Cmangi Webstation is. The same little amount of RAM, probably the same bad quality display too?
I think it would do better at $100; IMO. 🙂 It looks nice. Not having to pay for Windows would make it more affordable. It looks nice.
Are you refering to that:
xapMM:DocumentID adobe:docid:photoshop:98d44008-…
stored in the image?
I am very curious, has anyone bought or reviewed anything from Haleron ? How is their customer service and support ? I’m quite interested in picking one of these up, I’ll be picking up a 2nd gen iPad but that I expect won’t be until 3rd or 4th qtr, so I’d like to pick up a relatively inexpensive tablet to tide me over until then.
That image is either rendered, or that screen is the glossiest POS ever. Although I guess that both are possible…
Nice HAL reference btw. Maybe they can’t get them into distribution yet because the device tried to kill Dave the marketing genius who green lit the name… As well as photographers…
