Google Now for Android can now show information from third-party apps.

Google’s service is designed to give you information-at-a-glance when it’s most relevant. Up until recently all of that information came from Google apps and services including News, Calendar, and Gmail. But now you can see information from 40 different Android apps, assuming you have those apps installed on your phone or tablet.

For example you can get the latest news from The Guardian or the Economist in the morning when you regularly check the news. Mint can let you know when you’ve got upcoming bills due. Pandora can recommend music you might want to hear during your commute. And Duolingo can remind you to practice your Spanish lessons.

Shazam can remind you about songs you’ve recently identified and if you’ve recently searched for lodgings on Airbnb, the app can create cards to show you similar results.

These apps and others that support Google Now integration will be able to create cards in the Google Now user interface. Just fire up Google Now and you’ll find them mixed in with Google’s own cards.

At launch, there are 40 apps supported, but Google plans to add support cards from additional apps in the future.

You can see some more examples of third-party app cards for Google Now below, or check out Google’s gallery for more.
