The Gigbayte T1028 is a convertible tablet style netbook with 10 inch touchscreen display. It’s not available in the US yet, but Engadget Chinese managed to get their hands on one and put it through the paces.
The netbook isn’t Gigabyte’s first foray into ultraportable convertible tablets. Last year the company put out the Gigabyte M912, a netbook with a similar design, but an 8.9 inch display. But a larger screen isn’t the only thing that separates the T1028 from the M912. The new model also has a larger keyboard, better build quality, and an improved screen with better palm rejection features and better accuracy.
The Gigabyte T1028 features an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, and Windows XP. It’s available in two versions: one with a 1024 x 600 pixel display, and another with a high resolution 1366 x 768 screen.

Im using my T1028 gigabyte since last year..graduation gift from my father..:D I really love my notebook…!!!
I just bought one. I got the T1028G model. Here is what I got:
1. Display: looks grainy in whatever resolution you put it.
2. Keyboard: Plastic and cheap
3. Weight: Heavy for its size.
4. Touchscreen response: Not good. Should have gone for a capacitive and not resistive screen instead
In comparison to my HP Mini 2140, the Gigabyte T1028G looks like a cheap laptop. But pricewise it is much more expensive. I guess I went for the features and didn’t consider the other important stuff.
This is a fair warning to others: if you’re going to buy a netbook, get one with at least a good solid chassis and display. I wasn’t able to read any bad reviews about the T1028G so I bought it. Now I wish I hadn’t.
The T1028 “P” model sounds like it will be great. High screen resolution plus the new hardware should make for a tempting tablet. Hopefully they let you check one out.
