Fossil has been making watches since the 1980s. Now the company is getting into the smartwatch space… as well as the smart jewelry space.
The Fossil Q line of products are connected watches, bracelets, and fitness trackers that will be available starting October 25th for $125 and up. Want the full Android Wear smartwatch experience? You’ll have to wait a little while. Fossil’s first Android Wear device won’t be available until the holiday season.
That watch is called the Fossil Q Founder, and it’s a watch with a round display that features Intel technology, support for Android and iOS notifications, and which should work with any third-party Android Wear apps.
The Fossil Q Founder will have a starting price of $275.
Fossil is also introducing a more affordable watch called the Q Grant. This model sells for $175 to $195 and it will be available starting October 25th. This model looks like a standard watch, but it can pair with your smartphone to provide alerts about incoming calls, text messages, email, and other notifications.
The Q Grant also supports fitness tracking features and has a vibration motor and LED indicator to provide custom lights or vibrations depending on who’s sending you a message.
Fossil’s Q Reveler is a $125 wearable that has activity tracking and notification features include color LED lights. It’s coming October 25th.
The Q Dreamer is a $125 fitness tracker that you can wear as a bracelet. It has leather and silicone band options, vibration alerts, and color notifications. It also launches October 25th.
While the Fossil Q Founder is the company’s first smartwatch with a modern operating system, it’s not technically the company’s first smart wearable: The Fossil Wrist PDA was launched in 2013 as a sort of souped-up calculator watch. It had a 160 x 160 pixel grayscale display, a 66 MHz processor, 8MB of RAM, 4MB of storage, and Palm OS software.
FOSL looks like it is on a downward trajectory. They were cool 10 years ago.
In 2003 it was revolutionary…2013, however, a bit dated.
