Fidelity Electronics sells digital picture frames and other electronics. And now the company, like every other company on the face of the earth, is launching a netbook. This one’s not going to tempt anyone away from an Asus Eee PC 1000HE or Dell Inpsiron Mini 10 anytime soon. But if you’re in the market for a cheap laptop with a 7 inch display that weighs just 1.5 pounds, you might want to take a look at the company’s Very Personal Computer. OK, you probably don’t want to… but I’ll tell you a bit more about it anyway.

The netbook has an 800 x 480 pixel display, a 2GB solid state disk, an SD card reader, and a 3 cell battery. It measures 8.4″ x 5.5″ x 1″ and will sell for about $200 in the US starting next month. It’s not clear what kind of CPU the netbook has, but my money is on a 400MHz Xburst processor.

  1. I just bought this unit for my 8 year old daughter. I thought that it would be a good unit for her to learn how to use a laptop etc. I bought it from Zellers for 150 Canadian. It is a very small unit but I would say it will meet my daughter’s needs for now.

    1. Yup this was a waste of my money. This very personal computer compares to a toy you might find in a cereal box-not very useful at all!

  3. These are slow…

    You can buy current versions cheaper ($160) or £110 for diffrent makes of an equivilent device.

    These machines browse slower then a 2003 CE.net 4.2 device with just a strongarm 206Mhz CPU.

    Not sure I would be intrested at any price 🙂

  4. As some have said the price is really key here. It is probably a little too “lite” on the features to mark out it own territory.

  5. Too little too late in my opinion. My Eee 701 which I still use every day has much better specs than this unit and its almost a year and a half old. With netbook prices already flirting with the $250 range that are SIGNIFICANTLY better why would you buy this? I think if they could get the price to the $139 level and sell it at Wal-Mart and Target there could be a market. Even so, why did they go with that mousepad design with the buttons on the side. Everybody knows that sucks!

  7. Fidelity Electronics…. sounds sort of like a bank that repossessed an electronics company 😉 Maybe i could borrow a Very Personal PC from them.
