Tired of waiting for HP to launch a tablet PC? A Chinese company has put out an impressive looking tablet (that you probably won’t be able to buy in the US anytime soon), with some pretty sexy specs. So it should come as no surprise that the tablet is called the Eros.

- CPU options: Intel Atom N450, Intel Celeron SU2300
- GPU options: Intel GMA 3150 (w/Atom), NVIDIA ION 2 (w/Atom), GMA 4500MHD (w/Celeron)

- Storage: 160GB
- Memory: 1GB
- Battery: 4600mAh
- Weight: 2.2 pounds
Prices will range from about $440 to $600 depending on the configuration. There’s no word on the operating system, but the Eros tablet certainly looks like a Windows 7 machine to me.

Now that’s more like it. And yes, Brad, I agree that it’s probably shipping with W7, but it should make a nice Linux machine after you install it yourself. 😉
Also, don’t be surprised if some vendors show up with Ubuntu OEM deals; I don’t think Linux is dead on tablets yet, especially with growing W7 dissatisfaction and iPad envy playing into it for those devs.

My first thought was: “Looks like a Linux tablet to me”. Sure, Windows 7 works great on a slate of this size too, but given that it’s not running that Z series Atom with its IP encumbered graphics accelerator, Linux is a strong candidate. This hardware is not only well supported under Linux but will also give a quality 3D and video experience. MeeGo perhaps?
It has an N-series Atom CPU, not Z-series, and comes with optional ION graphics or a Celeron SU2300 CPU — both of which are pretty good candidates for Windows machines. Sure, it *can* run Linux, but I’d be surprised if that’s what it ships with.
