Just days after Asus officially launched the Eee PC 900 in the US, French site Blogeee has scored a bunch of high resolution images of the Eee PC 901, which appears to look a lot like the 900, but with some subtle changes. It’s not 100% clear at the moment, but I’m going to assume the 901 is the first model that will pack an Intel Atom processor. This machine could be out as soon as June, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Asus decided to hold off on releasing the Eee PC 901 for another month or two to give the Eee PC 900 some room to breathe.
- The touchpad now appears to have two distinct buttons. No more rocker!
- The power buton is gone, replaced by several small buttons just above the keyboard. Some of these buttons will likely be mapped to other hardware functions.
- The mono microphone seems to have been replaced with a stereo mic just above the battery.
Asus has apparently also moved the logo and a few of the ports around. For the most part, the Eee PC 901 appears to have everything the 900 does, and then some. No word on pricing, release date, or whether or not this is the unit that will include an Intel Atom processor. But in the meantime, you can check out a ton of high quality images at Blogeee.
Battery life will matter. It would be good for these mini’s to last more than 8 hours on one charge.
Supposed to have bluetooth but it’s so ugly!
Doesn’t look like so much that I’d wait to buy one of those instead of the 900. More tweaks than real improvements. Still a cute little buggah! 🙂
