A new mini-desktop computer from EliteGroup Computer Systems (ECS) showed up at the FCC website this week. It looks like a low-power nettop computer, but it will be available with Intel Core i5 or Core i7 Sandy Bridge processors, making it a pretty decent replacement for a full-sized desktop PC.
ECS is a Taiwanese computer manufacturer, and it’s likely that the ECSÂ BR95IIX will have a catchier name and be sold under a different brand if and when it goes on sale in the US.
The computer measures 8.9″ x 7.6″ x 1.9″ and according to the user manual it’s designed to fit into a living room environment as easily as an office. It can support up to 640GB of hard drive space and has HDMI, D-Sub, and audio jacks as well as a card reader, an ExpressCard slot, and 4 USB ports (2 on the front, and 2 on th eback).
In addition to Gigabit Ethernet, the ECSÂ BR95IIX has an internal 802.11a/g/n WiFi card. It has 2 RAM sockets and can support up to 8GB of DDR3 1333 MHz memory.
There’s also a fingerprint reader for security.
There’s no word on how much the computer will cost when (or if) it’s available.
