Tablet maker E Fun is updating its line of low-cost Android tablets with 4 new models powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop software.

The E Fun Nextbook Ares tablets feature 8 to 11.6 inch screens, starting prices ranging from $129 to $249, and they should hit the streets in May.

Nextbook Ares 10L

The tablet pictured above is a $229 model with a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.

It features WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 2MP front and rear cameras, a microSD card slot, mini HDMI port, and support for 4G LTE networks.

E Fun is offering the Ares 10L as a 2-in-1 tablet that comes with a magnetic, detachable keyboard.

Nextbook Ares 8

This entry-level model has an 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, a MediaTek MT8127 quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.

It has a list price of $129, and the tablet features WiFi, Bluetooth, a microSd card slot, and mini HDMI port.

Nextbook Ares 8L

For the most part this tablet is identical to the Ares 8, but it has 4G LTE support and a higher price tag of $199.

Nextbook Ares 11

This 2-in-1 tablet has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel IPS display, a detachable magnetic keyboard, and an Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor.

It has 1GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot, mini HDMI port, and a full-sized USB port on the keyboard. There are 2MP front and rear cameras and the tablet supports WiFi and Bluetooth, but not 4G.

E Fun will offer the Nextbook Ares for $249 when it launches in May.

The company also plans to launch a new line of 2-in-1 tablets with Windows 8 software, Intel Atom Bay Trail processors, and detachable keyboards in May. Prices for those tablets will start at $229.

  1. It’d be interesting if they released the 8 inch tablet as a 2-in-1 Windows machine. That’d be the closest thing we’ve seen in quite some while to the original Eee PC. Not that it’d be a great machine, but at least it would be a unique entry in the market.
