Dell’s latest XPS laptop is actually a 2-in-1 tablet with a detachable keyboard. The Dell XPS 12 is a fanless tablet with a 12.5 inch display and an Intel Core M Skylake processor.
When used with the keyboard dock, the XPS 12 is a compact notebook that weighs just about 2.8 pounds. Remove the keyboard and you’ve got a 1.75 pound tablet.
Dell introduced the XPS 12 in October, and now you can buy one from Dell.com for $1000 and up.
The XPS 12Â has a Core m5-6Y54 processor, 8GB of RAM, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, a 30 Whr battery, an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.
It has two Thunderbolt 3 ports with USB Type-C connectors, an SD card slot and a headset jack and the tablet measures about 11.5″ x 7.6″ x 0.3″ while the tablet and keyboard combined measure about an inch thick.
Speaking of the keyboard dock, it has backlit keys and a glass touchpad.
Dell currently offers two configurations. For $1000 you can get a model with a 1920 x 1080 pixel display and 128GB of solid state storage. Pay an extra $300 and you get a 3840 x 2160 pixel display and a 256GB SSD.
The tablet also has an active digitizer for pressure-sensitive input and Dell plans to offer an Active Pen accessory for writing and drawing soon.

Junk. Only one keyboard position.
Ok, very nice hardware. How does it do with Linux? How well does it work with the touch capabilities, the modern ports, etc?
