Dell is now taking pre-orders for the XPS 10 tablet with a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, and Windows RT software.
Prices start at $499.99 for the tablet, but it won’t actually ship until December.
That price gets you a 32GB tablet with a 2MP front-facing camera, a 5MP rear camera, 802.11n WiFi, and Bluetooth. It also comes with Office Home & Student 2013 RT.
There’s also a 64GB model starting at $599.99, or you can pay $679.99 for a model with 32GB of storage and a keyboard docking station with an integrated battery to give you longer run time as well as a keyboard and touchpad.
Dell is keeping the pricing on its first Windows RT tablet pretty close to the price of a Microsoft Surface RT tablet. But the Surface has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU while Dell’s tablet has a Qualcomm chip. Microsoft also offers optional touch keyboard covers which don’t add any extra battery life or other features.
Ouch — for $20 more that the price of their keyboard dock you can get a brand new Nexus 7.
Or, for $70 more, a brand new Chromebook, keyboard and all… 🙂
