Dell’s new low-cost Android tablet family doesn’t stop at 7 inches. The company also plans to launch an 8 inch model with slightly beefier specs this fall.
The Dell Venue 8 is due out October 18th and has a starting price of $180.
Dell’s 8 inch Android tablet sports an 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display and a 2 GHz Intel Atom Z2580 Clover Trail+ dual-core processor, making it a little faster than the 7 inch model — which helps justify the starting price which is $30 higher for this model. So do the slightly higher-resolution 5MP rear and 2MP front-facing cameras.
The rest of the specs are virtually identical. Both tablets have 2GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and optional HSPA+ connectivity, 15.5 Whr batteries, microSD card slots, and micro USB ports. And both run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
For $180 you get a WiFi-only Dell Venue 8 with 16GB of storage, but you can pay extra for 32GB or that HSPA+ option.
The Dell Venue 8 measures 8.3″ x 5.1″ x 0.35″ and weighs 10.3 ounces.
