nail polish dellHave you ever looked at your laptop with its drab black or white cover and thought to yourself “man, I really wish this thing were available in the color of my favorite nail polish!” Well, the wait is almost over.

Dell has teamed up with nail lacquer experts OPI to create 26 new color choices for the company’s laptops. Users will be able to choose the new colors when customizing a computer in the Dell Design Studio. the color pallette will be available for Dell’s Studio, Inspiron, and Inspiron Mini line of notebooks.

Just in case that wasn’t enough to get you excited, six of the colors will be holiday-themed, including “Dear Santa,” and “Smitten with Mittens.”

OK, all kidding aside, I have to say the pattern on the netbook above does at least look pretty intriguing. And it’s probably a smart move on Dell’s part to give customers the ability to personalize their computers and make their laptop look different from the hordes of other notebooks out there. But really? “Smitten with Mittens?”

  1. OPI is known for their… unique choices in nail polish naming, if that helps in explaining smitten mittens.

  2. I am wondering why the skins manufacturers haven’t come out with a service to put the graphic of your choice on a skin. On second thought, do I really want to see pictures of the owner’s kids on all these netbooks/notebooks? I never said this, it wasn’t me.

  3. Still waiting for one of the manufacturers of the rubberized cover machines
to offer a free, hot stamp impression of your choice.

Maybe a “pretty kitty” theme and a H.D. logo. 😉

  4. Marketing campaign preview: “Buying your wife a computer? It’s as easy as finding the bottle and matching the color!”

It’s certainly more sophisticated than the old standby: “It’s for chicks — let’s make it pink!” But I’m still not sure about this one. Hmm.
