Dell has released a new version of its Stage UI software for Android tablet sand Windows computers including the Dell Inspiron Duo convertible tablet-style netbook. The new software includes a feature called SyncUP which automatically uploads your photos, music, and videos to the cloud and synchronizes your data between devices.
In other words you can snap a photo with your Dell Stream 7 tablet and it will be uploaded and synchronized so that you can find the same photo on your Windows PC or on any device with a web browser.
Users will get 2GB of cloud storage for free. You can also pay for additional storage with paid plans ranging from 5GB to 100GB. SyncUP won’t copy files protected with DRM, so if you purchase music or movies from Amazon or another media store, they won’t be copied.
The SyncUP service was designed by Nero, makers of disc burning and backup software. Overall, it looks a lot like the iCloud service Apple is expected to roll out with iOS 5 soon. The key difference is that Apple does let you synchronize your music collection thanks to partnerships with the major record labels in the US.
