Dell Streak 7

Dell has discontinued the Streak 7tablet and is no longer offering it for sale online. The cancellation of Dell’s 7 inch Android tablet comes a few months after Dell retired the Streak 5, its inch tablet/phone.

In other words, Dell isn’t currently offering any Android tablets at all in the US.

The company introduces its 10 inch Dell Streak 10 Pro in China this summer, but it’s not yet available in any other country.

Dell does still sell the Dell Venue smartphone in the States, and the company offers the Dell Inspiron Duo convertible tablet-style Windows netbook. The company also recently introduced the Dell Latitude ST Windows tablet for enterprise.

You can still buy accessories for the Streak 7 from Dell, and the company will continue to offer users that bought the tablet with Android 2.2 Froyo the ability to upgrade to Android 3.2 Honeycomb — but I wouldn’t hold my breathe waiting for an official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich build. Fortunately, it looks like an unofficial version is already in the works.

The Dell Streak 7 was one of the first tablets to ship with a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor when it launcher earlier this year. But the tablet was hampered by a low resolution 800 x 480 pixel display and it shipped with Android 2.2 at a time when many other companies were preparing Android 3.0 devices.

Dell has offered WiFi-only and 4G models of the tablet for much of the year, but T-Mobile stopped selling the 4G model a few months ago.

  1. Almost on firesale actually. I saw it on Amazon for 199 bucks. Once you have it, i recommend you unlock it: https://www.unlockstreak.com/products/unlock-dell-streak-7

  2. So Sad….   Then again the screen on that device was ABYSMAL.  Seriously, bad viewing angles, low resolution, colors looked washed out in one mall I was at because there were overhead skylights, and then in the one with overhead flouresing lights the screen was blindingly reflective and everything still looked like crap.

Note to tablet makers:  There is a minimum DPI at which things begin to look HORRIBLE.  Don’t go under it.
