Dell has released a BIOS update for Inspiron Mini 9 netbooks. The A04 BIOS version includes a couple of new features and fixes. For instance, the bootup splash screen is now at the proper resolution. And users can now set the low battery alarm to issue a warning when the battery level drops as low as 4%. The limit used ot be 7%.

The BIOS also fixes a problem that had caused some battery capacities to be reported incorrectly.

One reply on “Dell Inspiron Mini 9 A04 BIOS now available”

  1. I never noticed the splash screen ‘problem’ nor the 4% thing.

I had the Dell 9 for 2 months and couldnt get the updates to work on the crippled Ubuntu they offer even though I can add full of software from their repositories.

Finally, my brother in law’s nephew (15 years old) came by this week and installed another Linux version he likes instead ( the install was faster than when i install my XP and he showed me how to save my files/settings from /home/name which makes it a cinch to be up an running without having to configure to my taste).

I wonder how important this BIOS update is if you dont use the Dell/Ubuntu OS anymore.
(I much prefer the Acer One’s Linux that my sister uses.)
