Dell has begun shipping the extended, 6 cell battery for the Dell Inspiron Mini 10. And MyDellMini Forum member kqwik78 has posted a few pictures and first impressions. And while it’ll roughly double the battery life of the netbook to about 5 or 6 hours, it’s not the prettiest 6 cell battery I’ve ever seen. It’s also not the ugliest.
While we’re still waiting for Dell to begin offering the anticipated GPS receiver and TV tuner options for the Mini 10, the addition of the 6 cell battery means you can now purchase this mini-laptop with a standard or high resolution display, standard or high capacity battery, or a choice of hard drive or solid state disk. That makes it one of the more configurable netbooks on the market. (Well, plenty of netbooks are configurable, but most of the time configuration requires a screwdriver, some elbow grease, and the willingness to void your warranty).

Don’t forget it is also configurable to come with Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux, adding even more to the configuration possibilities…..
They do call these things “extended # cell batteries” – since they “extend” somewhere.
