Dell is holding a press event next week to announce new products which could include the company’s first entry into the netbook field. We’ve been seeing leaks and rumors about the upcoming Dell Inspiron Mini laptops for months now, but this could be the first time we get the official rundown from Dell.
Here’s what we (think we) know so far:
- Dell’s netbooks will come at several levels, with prices starting at $299.
- The Inspiron Mini will have an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 512MB of RAM, a 4GB SSD and a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU.
- The low end computer will weigh about 2.2 pounds and measure 9.13″ x 6.9″ x 0.82″ to 1.22″.
- Dell will also be releasing a 12.1 inch laptop with a higher price and a stronger focus on performance.
I’ve been hearing for a while that the Inspiron Mini would be available in August. So there’s a good chance the laptop will be among the products Dell announces next week. And as long as I’m placing stock in rumors, I’ll go ahead and predict the laptop could be available immediately following the announcement. I could also be totally and completely wrong.
Thanks Wilson Azevedo!
I have been blogging on the Inspiron 700 since 05, its not much bigger. People always comment on the smallness I know that that it has disadvantages with the smaller screen, but I love being about to up and go with it…. looking forward to the little red corvette of laptops, and will be buying one
Well, I think we all are tired of searching the web daily for more information. As everyone here, I would like to see this netbook with my own eyes as soon as possible.
A question: is it going to ship or be available in all Dell countries? With Dell countries I mean countries in which Dell has an office or representative.
Best regards,
Andy

Here says that it will be released in Spain at the same time as in the USA, 12th August.
For the comentaries in there basic version 250-275 €, I hope it is for real 😉
Stop teasing, Dell, and release it already!
I echo Kathy’s sentiment. More vapor-ware roumors. Just give us a release date like Lenovo did with the X200 and make them available for sale or to place a real order not sit on the pre-order list. For example try finding a 6-cell MSI Wind (except at Mwave for $630).
Woooo Hoooooo~! I’m so tired of trolling the internet daily looking for news of this. Just release it or tell us when it will come out.
