Motorola Atrix 4G Lapdock

The Motorola Atrix 4G is a smartphone that turned a lot of heads earlier this year thanks to the optional Lapdock accessory which lets you use the phone like a laptop. Motorola showed off the system at CES in January, demonstrating how you can use the Atrix as a normal, Android-powered phone, or connect to the Lapdock via a proprietary port and use a full version of the Firefox web browser or access your other apps and data on a device with an 11.6 inch display and a full-sized keyboard.

And then AT&T announced that the laptop dock would add $300 to the price of the phone. And I kind of lost interest.

But now AT&T is offering the Lapdock for just $50, plus free shipping, and suddenly it looks like an interesting way to get a little more out of your smartphone without spending enough money to buy a standalone netbook.

In other Motorola bargains, Woot is selling refurbished XOOM WiFi tablets for $320 today. The Motorola XOOM has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, and 32GB of storage. It ships with Android 3.1 Honeycomb, but you should be able to update it to Android 3.2… and eventually Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

If you’re looking for something even cheaper, Best Buy is selling the Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet in-stores for $300 today. The Transformer also has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel screen and NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, but this tablet ships with 16GB of RAM.

  1. OMG, for this price there might appear some hacked ways to connect other phones or laptops to it! Sweet!
