Sure, Google’s probably going to announce new Nexus phones soon. But last year’s Nexus 6 is still a pretty powerful device, sporting a 6 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display, a speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, and support for the latest version of Android.
When Google and Motorola launched the Nexus 6 in 2014, some folks scoffed at its $649 price tag. But the price has dropped since then and now you can buy one from Google for $499… or sometimes you can pay even less.
Right now Amazon is selling the Nexus 6 for $350. That’s the price for a model with 32GB of storage. Add another $50 if you want the 64GB version.
Looking for some music to listen to on your new phone (or just about any other device)? Google is giving away a bunch of “best of” albums. You can stock up on free music from Nas, Frank Sinatra, Incubus, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Ciara, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Billie Holiday, Sly @ the Family Stone, and Kenny G, just to name a few of the artists featured.

Liquidation pricing on the Nexus 6. It started shipping in Nov 2014. 10 months at flagship status. Snapdragon 805 is ARMv7-a (not 64bit). New Nexus 5 has the 808 (ARMv8) and hexacore 2 x a57 and 4 x a53. I don’t see that phone lasting for more than 10 months either (before liquidation).
I’m planning to replace my LG G2 with the new Nexus 5 when it goes on sale Sept 2016. I am hoping it will be $250/$300 then.
Good timing. Just last week I was thinking about buying some Sly and the Family Stone.
