I’m writing this article on an Acer Aspire S 13, which I picked up last year when it was on sale for a great price… but today you can get one for an even greater price… or lesser, I guess.
Anyway, the point is that Newegg is selling this 13.3 inch, 3 pound notebook with a Core i5 Skylake processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a full HD matte display for just $550.
My only real complaint about this laptop is that the fan can be a bit noisy at times. But I’ve been very pleased with the notebook’s performance and portability, especially given the low price tag… although it’s worth noting that I paid $699 for a model with a Core i7 CPU.

The Acer Aspire S13 sold now is not touchscreen.
Interesting. I’ll update the post, because you’re right, I see no mention of a touchscreen on the product listing.
The model linked is the Aspire S 13 S5-371, while the models with touchscreen are Aspire S 13 S5-371T, with the ending “T”.
Anyhow, I tried this laptop in store and it was good. However, I couldn’t use two-finger scrolling successfully if I rested my left hand’s forefinger on the bottom left-hand corner of the touchpad. This is something I’m used to with my current trackpad with dedicated mouse buttons. Does your S13 have this behaviour as well or was it a matter of outdated drivers?
