Google is probably going to unveil its next-gen Pixel smartphones next week, along with a bunch of other new products. But the new Pixel phones are expected to be pricey, with the Pixel 2 going for $649 and up and the Pixel 2 XL starting at $849.
Don’t need the absolute latest device? Woot is selling refurbished first-gen Pixel phones for as little as $350 right now, making last year’s models about half the price of this year’s (probably).
There are a few things to keep in mind: You only get a 90-day warranty, but you get guaranteed Android OS updates through October 2018 and security updates through at least October, 2019.
That update timeline isn’t amazing, but it’s guaranteed, and that’s worth something at a time when most Android phone makers expect you to gamble in the update lottery.
