Now that Windows and Android tablets with Intel Atom Bay Trail chips are on the way, expect to see a lot of price drops Clover Trail-powered models. Lenovo normally charges $500 for its IdeaTab Lynx, an 11.6 inch Windows 8 tablet with an Atom Z2760 processor, but today you can pick one up for $300.

While this is technically just a “daily deal,” I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of deals like this in the coming months.

Note that this price is for the tablet alone. You’ll still have to pay extra for the optional keyboard dock.

  1. Look for even more and severe Clover Trail price drops as the Bay Trail models come into the market. Ditto for Ivy Bridge when more Haswell products start selling.

    The battle royale will be Windows vs. Android devices, now that the battery life playing field is level (and the CPU playing field could be as well, if the same Intel CPU is used for both OS platforms, although ARM will still dominate in Android)

    Are Office, Outlook, Access really that important to the overall market? Does the public want apps or programs on its mobile kit? Are traditional Windows programs overkill for mobile use? Have free apps spoiled users away from costly Windows software? Whose active digitizer experience and capabilities are superior?

    Dual boot Windows/Android tablets anyone?
