Barnes & Noble may be partnering with Samsung on NOOK tablets and Amazon may have the new(ish) Kindle Fire HDX tablet these days… but if you’re just looking for a simple device for surfing the web, playing some games, and performing other basic tasks it might be worth considering older tablets from those companies.
Right now you can pick one up for as little as $60. That’s how much A4C is charging for a refurbished Amazon Kindle Fire (1st generation) or NOOK HD 7 (which is actually a 3rd-gen device).
The NOOK is probably the better deal, thanks to its 1440 x 900 pixel display, microSD card slot, and support for the Google Play Store. But if you’re a fan of Amazon’s software and ecosystem, the Kindle Fire ain’t a bad deal either.

Good price for the Nook. Bought three of them around Christmas when they were $70 each… one for my daughter, one for my dad, and one that I have ended up using quite a bit more than expected.
The Gear 2 Neo link just gives me a 404 error.
Looks like it’s now longer available. Sorry!
It’s fine; just letting you know!
