Asus makes some of the most affordable 11.6 inch notebooks around, and typically sells them under the VivoBook X200, X202, or Q200 series names. But Adorama is offering one of the best deals I’ve seen.

For $235 you can order an 11.6 inch notebook with a 1.5 GHz Intel Celeron 1007U dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and Windows 8. I can’t tell if this particular model has a touchscreen, bust most other VivoBook models do.

There’s only one catch — Adorama says the laptop is back-ordered and will only ship when it comes back in stock. Still, at that price, it might be worth the wait.

  1. BEWARE: Reviewing the model # of the Vivobook, all other sites state Ubuntu and with a price range of $200-$279. No touchscreen. Model # X200CA-DB02

    1. I would second that. This is one of the reason regular consumers hate Ubuntu and Linux so much: every so often they get ambushed without expecting it and thus are given a machine that they’re completely unprepared for thereby developing a distaste for it without ever giving it a chance. Not that it’s a regular occurrence, but when it does it invariably gets a disproportionate amount of attention. That being said, I had no idea that Asus had a sub-$250 Ubuntu ultraportable offering.
