The Lenovo Yoga Book is one of the strangest computers released by a major PC maker in the past few years. At first glance, it looks like a super-thin notebook. But in place of a keyboard it has a “create pad,” which is basically a touch-sensitive area with a Wacom digitizer that you can use for writing, drawing, or typing (when you trigger a virtual keyboard).

Originally sold for $499 and up, the Yoga Book’s lack of a real physical keyboard made it an odd choice for notebook shoppers. And the high price tag may have made it unappealing for tablet buyers.

But now you can pick up a model with Google Android software for just $280, which could make this unusual device a bit more attractive. Maybe.

  1. I would say the Yoga Book is not for everybody. Most of the reviews I read that were not positive were from reviewers who had reservations about the keyboard. None of them were artists. The most positive reviews came from those who were artists. My daughter is one of them, and she loves it. She loves its portability, its beauty, its beautiful screen. She enjoys being able to sketch or draw more involved pieces while out and about. She is quite skilled with it. She also reports that the keyboard, while perhaps not as good as a top-notch physical keyboard, is way superior to the virtual keyboards she has tried on other tablets. She types faster and more accurately on it than I do on my desktop! That is an excellent price for this device. Too bad Lenovo is lousy at updating their Android devices.

    1. It’s supposed to get Android N in October, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a promised update show up on time. Already delayed; was supposed to arrive last Spring. I’ve been wanting one after playing with one at Walmart, but not until it gets some XDA, PostmarketOS, or LineageOS support.

    2. I really want to like it.. but its limitation is no wacom digitizer on the screen making it difficult to do anything other than sketch .. I tried inking and coloring with an external digitizer and it was horrible.. but I think the ability to sketch in real time with the tactile feedback of paper might be worthwhile… i’d just have to ink and color on another device…
